The free Domain Age Checker tells you how old a domain is. Enter a domain name and the tool looks up its original registration date from WHOIS and shows its age, so you can see how long the domain has existed. It is free and needs no account.
A domain's age is simply the time since it was first registered. It is a useful fact when you are researching a website's history, evaluating a domain you might buy, or comparing your site to a competitor's. The tool reads the real registration date, so the age it shows reflects the actual WHOIS record.
How to Check Domain Age
- Enter a domain. Type the domain name you want to check.
- Check. The tool reads the registration date from WHOIS.
- See the age. View the creation date and the domain's age in years.
Does Domain Age Affect SEO?
It is worth being clear about this, because domain age is often overstated. An older domain is not automatically ranked higher just for being old. What can matter is what happened during those years: an established domain may have accumulated backlinks, trust, and a track record that help it rank, while a brand-new domain has none of that yet. So age itself is a weak, indirect signal at best. A ten-year-old domain with no history is not stronger than a two-year-old domain with great content and links. Use domain age as a piece of background research, not as a measure of SEO strength on its own.
When to Check Domain Age
- Evaluating a domain to buy. See how long a domain has existed before acquiring it.
- Researching a competitor. Find out how established a rival site is.
- Vetting a website. Check whether a site is long-standing or very new.
- Checking your own domain. Confirm your domain's registration date and age.
