The tool detects tables by their structure, the ruled lines or the alignment of the columns, and puts the tables of each page on a sheet named after that page. Because it looks for genuine table structure, it works best on real tables and is built to skip ordinary paragraphs rather than turn them into cells.

What Converts Well, and What Does Not
This tool is built for PDFs that contain real tables. Tables with ruled lines are found most reliably. A table without lines is found when its columns are clearly separated, and text printed right above it can land in its first row or keep the table from being found. Detected tables extract into rows and columns you can work with. A table is left out when its cells hold running text instead of short values: one cell of about eight words or more, or cells that average more than three words, make it read as prose rather than a table. A few things do not convert: a page of flowing text has no table to extract and gets no sheet of its own, and a PDF with no detectable tables at all downloads as a spreadsheet holding a single sheet named No tables found; and a scanned table is an image with no underlying data, so it needs to be run through OCR first to create real text, and even then it is not always detected. If your document has clearly structured tables, you usually get a usable spreadsheet; if it does not, the file normally says so instead of filling cells with fragments of text. Text that only happens to line up, such as a bulleted list, can occasionally be read as a table.
What Happens to My File?
Uploaded PDFs are deleted from our servers immediately after processing, whether it succeeds or fails. The result is stored in a folder with a random name and stays available to download for about two hours, then it is deleted automatically. Uploads and download links use HTTPS.
