The free Sign PDF tool lets you place your signature onto a document. Upload your PDF, add an image of your signature, position it where it belongs, and download the signed file. It saves you the hassle of printing a document, signing it by hand, and scanning it back in. It is free, adds no watermark, and needs no account.
To be clear about what this tool does: it places a visible image of your signature onto the page, the digital equivalent of signing a printout. This is exactly what most everyday signing needs, such as returning a form or approving a letter. It is not a cryptographic digital signature backed by a certificate, so if you specifically need a certificate-based e-signature with a verified identity and audit trail, that is a different kind of tool.
How to Sign a PDF
- Upload your PDF. Select the file or drag it onto the upload area.
- Add your signature. Upload an image of your signature, or provide it in the way the tool offers.
- Position it. Place the signature where it needs to go on the page, and set its size.
- Download. Save the signed PDF to your device.
Signing Without Printing
The old way to sign a PDF was to print it, sign the paper, and scan it back into a file, which is slow and leaves you with a lower-quality document. Placing a signature image directly onto the PDF skips all of that: you get a clean, signed file in seconds, ready to send back. For the vast majority of documents people sign day to day, forms, letters, agreements, and approvals, a placed signature image is exactly what is expected and accepted.
Is My File Safe?
Your files are handled securely. Uploaded PDFs are deleted from our servers immediately after processing, whether it succeeds or fails. The result is stored under a random, unguessable name and stays available to download for up to two hours, then it is automatically and permanently deleted. All uploads and downloads use a secure HTTPS connection.
